At the crossroads of the graphic, choreographic and sound arts, ‘Coco’ questions the boundaries between sound and choreographic practices, while playing with identities. Stemming from a questioning of the relationship between sound and gesture through the Brazilian dance Samba de Coco, the project shifts the gaze, transforming the musician into a dancer and the dancer into a musician. The musical form is made inseparable from the choreography and the space, through a sound system composed of instruments spread across the stage and playable by all the performers. The intense lighting score illuminates the stage, creating imbalances among the performers. It aims to change the way we look at the performers throughout the piece. Transversal, ‘Coco’ plays with aesthetic classifications.
